Daydreaming Us

Sitting outside, soaking in the sun, I close my eyes and imagine a life together with you. A garden waltz repeats in my head as I daydream traveling the world with you. Strolling down the streets of France, my palm in yours, seeing all the beautiful buildings and artworks, smelling the tracing scent of the boulangeries, listening to the violinist on the cobblestone street play a song just for us. I imagine you speaking to the people, building connections, and friendships, as I pray for you in hopes of the advance of the gospel.

I can imagine us on a flight heading to Africa, us both looking out the window anticipating the new adventure to come. We walk the streets of the cities, we explore, we look for new things to try, new people to meet. We greet everybody with a smile and friendly hello, in hopes that they would see something deeper in our eyes, the love of our savior. I can imagine us dancing with the people, singing songs of hymns and sweet symphonies of their nation, soaking in all that they cherish, as our own.

My daydream shifts, my picture zooms in. It's us, in the very place God may call us, a place that scares us, a place we feel useless in. A place of hatred and secrecy, a place of fear and anxiety. But the people drew us in, and now we can see ourselves no where else. I can see us crying and pleading to God daily for answers, and strength, and everyday he grants us a new small blessing and a stronger faith than ever before. We feel most at home here because of the people, we love them with all of our heart, and we know this is our mission, together, as one.

Image after image is a new place we could be, where God calls us. The beauty through it all, is that we get to do it together. So no matter where we are, what we are doing, who we are loving, we get the privilege to do it together. And that is a daydream I could imagine over and over everyday, until it comes true.
